I migrated to Canada in March 2000 with my husband and 3 young children. Later in the year, we realized that one of our children has special need. He is diagnosed to be autistic.
Looking for a suitable house to live, job for my husband, visiting clinics/hospitals to get my son’s condition diagnosed and looking for school that is willing to support/teach my special need son has taken a toll on my life. When friends visited me 3 years later, they said I have aged at least 10 years older within the 3 years period. After landed 6 months in Canada, my husband’s fingers started to develop trigger fingers on both hands due to STRESS. Now he is cured. Thank God for that. How about the other 2 younger kids (4 and 8 then) ? If I have known about Dr James Dobson’s book on parenting earlier, I can cut down some stress on living with teenagers now.
I moved house three times within a short period of 3 years. All because of DRIVING. If only someone were to tell me to get a house within walking distant/next to the school because of my family needs, I don’t think I will have to move 3 times.
The experience of being a daughter, mother, wife, advocate and an entrepreneur. Nothing new !!! But if these hats were to happened in a foreign lands and a few thousands miles away from country of origin ?? Might be something useful.
